Valheim has many tough bosses to defeat, and the Queen in the Mistlands may pose the biggest challenge yet. She is the sixth main boss of Valheim, and requires a lot of preparation and concentration if you want to win. She even has her own arena separate from the open world, and you'll have to break the seal on it before you can fight her. This guide will teach you how to unlock the boss fight and the best tips for defeating her.
How to Locate the Queen
Finding the Queen shouldn’t be a huge challenge, as long as you can find a glowing red Vegvisir in the Mistlands. This stone will register the Queen’s position on your map.
The best way to find the Vegvisir is by exploring Infested Mines. These dungeons usually have one somewhere, but come prepared with your best food and weaponry as they’re full of deadly Seekers.

How to Summon the Queen
When you have the Queen’s location on your map, travel there and make sure you place a portal back to your base in case you die. Summoning her isn’t actually done in the same way as the rest of the bosses, but you will need a certain item to fight her.
Rather than summoning the Queen, you’re opening the door to her Dvergr prison. She was locked away by the inhabitants of the Mistlands, and the only way to get inside is with a Sealbreaker.
To find the Sealbreaker, you’ll need nine Sealbreaker Fragments. These are found within Infested Mines. They’re encased in what looks like glass, and require you to hit them before you can pick them up. Infested Mines will usually only have a couple of them, so you may need to find quite a few of these dungeons before you can get all nine pieces.
When you find all nine, make sure you’ve crafted a Galdr Table and head there to create the Sealbreaker. Here's the recipe for the Galdr Table.
- 20 Yggdrasil Wood
- 10 Black Metal
- 5 Black Core
- 5 Refined Eitr
When you have the Galdr Table, create the Sealbreaker and head to the bosses’ location to open the door with it.
How to Defeat the Queen
Now comes the hard part. If you’ve come this far, you should know the drill by now when it comes to Valheim bosses. You’ll want to bring your best food, weapons, armor and potions if you want to stand a chance against the Queen.

You should also equip a Feather Cape. The Queen's arena is very vertical with many sets of stairs leading upwards. With a Feather Cape, you can safely jump to the lower floors without taking damage.
The Queen has a huge health bar of around 12,500, and deals very high damage. Her scythe-like appendages will slice right through you if you don’t dodge roll or block with a shield. She also summons her brood of Seekers to swarm you. She will always roar before she summons them, so that’s your sign to prepare for a wave of Seeker enemies.
It’s highly recommended to craft one of the new staffs and bring food that grants Eitr, such as Seeker Aspic. The Staff of Embers is particularly good at clearing waves of Seekers in just a few casts. It can also burn the Queen while you take care of her brood.
Fighting the Queen on her own isn’t too difficult if you can nail the dodge/block timing. You should have time for a couple hits with your weapon between her melee attacks. Make sure you have Healing Mead in case you need a quick heal. The Queen will also burrow into the ground and emerge at different parts of the arena. It's worth keeping a Wisplight equipped so you can see her a bit more clearly.
Another good item to use is Poison Resistance Mead, as the Queen will eventually start spewing poison at you. This poison isn't very damaging, but if it racks up your health can quickly be drained while you struggle with her constant waves of Seekers. Make sure you avoid the pool of poison on the ground after the Queen does this attack.
Of course, fighting her with some friends will increase your chances of success as one of you can distract her while the others hit her from behind. If you're solo, kiting her around and using your staff and other ranged weaponry is your safest option, though it may be quite a slow process.
After a long, arduous fight, defeating the Queen will reward you with her trophy which you can place back at the spawn altar. The Queen's power will grant you increased mining speed and 100% boosted Eitr regeneration.
This power is particularly useful if you want to continue using staffs, which is very likely to be an effective strategy in future Valheim content. The staffs are some of the most powerful weapons in the game, and being able to cast more is very helpful.
And if you fancy fighting the Queen again, you can place 3 Seeker Soldier trophies on the altar at the top of her arena. This will restart the battle, so you can do it all over again and get another Queen trophy to display on your wall.
