Scandal-plagued former AFL player manager Ricky Nixon has pleaded with police to be 'gentle' with him as he was arrested in dramatic circumstances in Melbourne on Thursday.

The 62-year-old was handcuffed by detectives in bulletproof vests after allegedly threatening to kill police in a post on his Facebook account.

The post allegedly named a serving police officer and came as a response to Nixon's followers asking if he was OK.

He allegedly replied 'No on a mission to leave as meany [sic] cop c***s dead', according to The Age.

Nixon asked police to be careful during the arrest because he has an injured shoulder, according to Channel Seven, which also reported that Nixon told officers his account had been hacked.

'A 62-year-old Port Melbourne man was arrested this morning and has subsequently been charged with intimidate law enforcement officer, make threat to kill and use carriage service to menace,' Victorian Police said in a statement.

The former agent for footy big names like Wayne Carey and Tony Lockett (pictured outside court in March last year) allegedly threatened to kill police on social media

'He has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 July.'

Nixon is currently serving a community corrections order after he was found guilty in June 2024 of unlawful assault and discharging a missile.

Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano determined Nixon punched and kicked an Australia Post worker at his Port Melbourne home on March 10, 2022, before throwing a package at him.

The former agent for footy stars like Wayne Carey and Tony Lockett appeared in court in January as he faced 10 criminal charges of obtaining property by deceptionover the sale of allegedly fake commemorative footballs purchased by Melbourne fans following the Demons' Grand Final victory in 2021.

The allegedly fake footballs were sold by Nixon, 58, for $575, plus $20 postage fee and were allegedly claimed to have been signed by the premiership players.

Nixon is also charged with making or using a false document in relation to authentication certificates sent with the footballs.

He made the bombshell move of sacking his lawyers just weeks before he was due to fight the allegations in a two-day contested hearing in February this year.

Nixon instead told the court wants to represent himself and question at least three further prosecution witnesses over claims he fraudulently sold the footballs in October 2021.

Three civilian witnesses and the police informant were due to give evidence in the contested hearing, starting February 12.

Nixon has denied the allegations of fraud, claiming he was duped by a fake AFL licensee who sold him the footballs.

The former agent also claims the authentic footballs were swapped out to fund the alleged conman's drug addiction.

Last April it was reported that Nixon faced being declared bankrupt after Melbourne businessman Greg O'Shea filed a creditor's petition alleging he was owed $40,000 by the former player manager.
